This is a lovely way to experience the absolute best of what Capetonians call their Southern Suburbs.
We start the Half day wine and Flower tour with a visit to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens renown for the rich diversity of its plant life. Throughout the year it is just spectacular and offers its own lovely views of the surrounding suburbs and Table Mountain. You will have fun walking on the ‘Boomslang’ or Canopy Walk which allows you stupendous views from the level of the tree Canopy.
If you would like to take it a little easy, we can arrange a Golf Cart driven by a very knowledgeable guide who will be able to take you further and higher than time will allow on foot. It is a great way of seeing as much of the beautiful park in a limited time.
The Constantia Valley wines are top quality wines due mainly to the unique terroir or microclimate. The soil is very rich due to its composition of decomposed Granite and Table Mountain Sandstone. The grapes are cooled by the fresh breeze coming from the Atlantic which, lengthens the ripening process, giving rise to fresh but concentrated flavours. The area has a very rich history as this is where Simon van der Stel started making the first quality wines in the Cape which were drunk by the Kings and Queens of Europe! There are a host of different wine farms to choose from, but Groot Constantia offers a great deal more than just a wine tasting experience, you can stroll in the magnificent grounds and view the very historic Manor house. A walk through the museum is a great way of absorbing some of the Cape’s early history.
Buitenverwachting truly lives up to it’s name (Beyond Expectations), the beauty of the grounds is matched by the quality of their wine. Another favourite is Constantia Glen where the views are magnificent and the wines top quality!
