Recently I have had the privilege of playing to premier courses in the Western Cape namely, Arabella and Erinvale Golf Club.
Arabella is beautiful, quite a bit of water and some bunkers, but nothing too demoralising! The holes seemed to reject my ball, but maybe that is just my putting! If given the choice I think I would use a cart on this course, however we could not take carts when we played due to the dampness of the course and we managed to walk without too many problems. The food at the half way and also at the catered function afterwards was excellent too, all in all a great golfing experience!
Arabella is in Kleinmond, a very pretty drive along Clarence drive is the favoured route if you have a bit of time to spare.
Erinvale
We were very fortunate to spend the night at the Erinvale Estate, Hotel and Spa. What a luxurious experience that was! Lovely accommodation, great amenities and a truly fantastic breakfast. We were well and truly spoilt!
We were invited to join in the Saturday morning competition by the ladies and did so happily! The company was good and the golf enjoyable. The course was wet so our scores were not fantastic but a great day was had by all. We were given members rates for carts which was great but needed to stay on the path ways due to the wet condition of the course which is totally understandable. I found the members extremely friendly and accommodating. I would love to come back and play Erinvale again in dryer conditions, it is truly beautiful. There are a lot of wide fairways, some water and a few bunkers which are best avoided but a very playable and enjoyable course.
