A holiday in Mauritius

I was recently fortunate enough to experience a holiday of a life time in Mauritius at the Le Telfair Golf and Spa Resort in the Southern end of the Island.  We were lucky enough to be upgraded from the Awali to the Le Telfair Hotel which is Five Star Plus.

It truly was an amazing experience.  The first thing which really impressed me was our receptionist who tracked down my mini rooter which I left on the shuttle bus coming from the airport.  She made phone calls to the airport and the shuttle company Connections, located it and re-united me with the devise within 24 hours of me misplacing it!

We were on the ‘Gourmet Bliss’ package which included everything we could ever want to eat and drink, a host of water sports and our special even included a 60 minute full body massage….What a pleasure!

We had about 8 different restaurants to choose from and the trick is to book them as soon as you get there because the best ones get booked up pretty quickly.  We missed out on Le Chateau because of that but managed to eat at Gin’ja twice and Infinity Blue once.  Isabella’s was very pleasant as was the Cyan Restaurant.  The only one not to be recommended was Balafon.  The lunch at the Golf club was great and the Burgers at the C Beach Club were the best ever!

From an activity point of view there is absolutely no reason to leave the resort, everything is right there, from yoga, to tennis to all the water sports you can think of!  Another tip, try to get all the water skiing and wind sports done soon after you arrive, because sometimes the tide does not come up high enough to allow for it. The snorkelling just outside of the hotel was awesome!  The golf course was stunning there is an 18 hole course and a 9 hole course, both beautifully manicured!

We spent a day at Grande Bay going 35m under the ocean in a Submarine and Para-sailing, both of which were just amazing. The other excursion was to Black River where we boarded a Catamaran and spent the day sailing, watching Dolphins and snorkelling, what a pleasure!

I would definitely recommend an all inclusive package as the drinks and meals are fairly pricey if you pay for them on an a la carte basis and that could put a bit a bit of a dampener on things!

I would like to say a very special thank you to all my visitors who were kind and generous enough to give me gratuities over the past two years, as this is how I funded this most amazing holiday.  I am working especially hard on saving up for the next holiday!
